I’ve had the opportunity to learn from several wonderful teachers who have been connected to the very essence of qigong, through their actions, their words, their very sense of being. What they had in common was qualities of being both connected and humble. For me, it’s not about the person, it’s about the practice — we are simply an instrument. Real mastery is knowing the content, yes, but also knowing the student. As a teacher, I love to tell stories and would love to share some with you.
It was a chronically dislocated joint that led PAUL RISCHARD to the internal arts of Qigong and Taijiquan and to the esteemed master instructors who have taught in diverse and magnificent ways. After years of traumatic damage to his body through the hard martial arts and on the rugby field, his doctor gave him word that continuing down that road would lead to severe arthritis. A visit to Huntington Park in San Francisco led to Master Ko Wong and an enriching relationship that ushered the way to other teachers and experiences. In this program Paul will share their stories and how they have contributed to the internal arts journey. Paul is the Founding Director of the Peaceable Dragon Internal Arts Consortium. His classes are known for satisfying a variety of learning styles as well as for providing an atmosphere of warmth and humor. They furnish as core elements an opportunity for increasing one’s emotional balance and spiritual focus. Formerly a member of the NQA Board of Directors, he served as Chairman of the Certification Committee from 2006-08. Paul is certified at Level IV by the NQA and is authorized to teach Sheng Zhen Gong by Master Li JunFeng with whom he has studied for over 20 years. Professionally a Russian language teacher, the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages presented Paul the Excellence in Teaching Award this past year.
