World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day

World T'ai Chi & QiGong Day will be held on April 26, 2008. Each year, the date falls at the end of the same month as United Nations World Healing Day and Earth Day—on 6 continents! in 60 countries! in 50 US states!

World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day

At 10AM in New Zealand, a peaceful soothing event will unfold, and change the world forever, as it blooms around the Earth throughout the entire day—in each time zone by time zone at the local 10 AM, to finish with the final events in Hawaii. Gently and effortlessly the world will breathe together in a T'ai Chi & QiGong relay of calm. We have all experienced the soothing calm of witnessing others doing T'ai Chi or QiGong and on World T'ai Chi & QiGong Day the entire planet will have that opportunity. Visit www.worldtaichi.com for further information.

There are four purposes for staging this historic event:
1) educate the world
2) thank Chinese culture
3) improve world relations
4) provide a mighty example

From www.smartaichi.com/worldtaichiday, the website of the Founder, Bill Douglas: In the beginning Bill was very "serious" about spreading the word on T'ai Chi & Qigong health benefits. A change first occurred at a National Qigong Association Annual Conference in Baltimore, MD. There Master Li, a great T'ai Chi & Qigong master, stopped Bill in the hall and asked this very important question, "Why are you organizing World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day? Are you doing it for love?" Bill then decided World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day only had meaning if he was doing it for love.

World T'ai Chi and QiGong Day participants are invited to follow-up this global educational event by attending the National Qigong Association Conference. Dozens of Qigong and T'ai Chi experts from the US and abroad will offer three days of seminars and workshops. (Note: This year’s Conference will again be in Baltimore, MD and will celebrate the 10th anniversary of WTCQG Day.)

  • Meet with Qigong and T'ai Chi teachers and enthusiasts from around the world.
  • Network / make friends / supportive connections.
  • Strategize for the future of T'ai Chi and Qigong in the 21st Century.

The NQA is an umbrella organization dedicated to the support of ALL schools, styles, and organizations promoting the healing benefits of T'ai Chi and Qigong.

WTCQD wishes to publicly thank the NQA for their selfless dedication to making WTCQD a growing success in its efforts to educate on, support, and promote world health. The NQA has shown beyond a doubt that it's goal is to support all schools, styles and organizations dedicated to these goals. We encourage all groups from around the world to join the NQA, so that together we can increase the power of our local, national, and international healing efforts exponentially."

The NQA and WTCQG Day have had a long and close relationship.  Bill, and his wife, Angela Wong Douglas, are Honorary Lifetime Members of the National Qigong Association.  For local World Tai Chi events and to register your own event, go to www.worldtaichiday.com.
